A Cheddar business is redeveloping its premises after it received a grant of more than £60,000 from a regional development fund.

Engineering firm Mages Group hopes the £63,000 grant will pay for new equipment and enable it to take on more staff.

The money came from the £8.7million South West Growth Fund, which supports transitional projects in businesses and aims to create more than 1,000 jobs across the region. At Mages, it will pay for a new test facility and a computer-aided design system, so the firm can increase its production without raising its prices.

Mages Group manager Ben Mages said: “This investment will help us increase efficiencies and also improve the appearance of our premises, which needs to reflect the professionalism of the business.

“By being more efficient we aim to keep costs down for our customers and maintain our long-term reputation for quality work.”
