COUSINS from Weston have taken over a former clubbing hotspot – and have high hopes of restoring it to the popular place it once was.

Vas Kimitri, aged 20, and Harry Mousoulou, aged 23, will open Club Vision in Richmond Street tomorrow (Fri), in time for Weston’s T4 On The Beach weekend.

The club used to be owned by brothers Cam and Kiem Mu and police were frequently called to the venue to deal with public order offences before it closed in 2009.

Hundreds of keen clubbers were left disappointed after discovering the sale of the nightspot had fallen through last year, but a contract has now formally been completed.

Former Sidcot School pupil Vas said: “We are bringing Vision back by popular demand.

“We both have experience working in the hospitality industry and know how much the people of Weston want to see this club open and busy again.

“We have our family supporting us and we are steering well away from any all-you-can-drink promotions that were associated with the club before.”

The venue, which can serve alcohol until 4am, has a fully-licensed 10-year lease, but will only be open from Thursday to Saturday night.

There is no entry after 2am and the pair have future plans for a VIP area, guest DJs and smoking section.

While no immediate, major refurbishment is needed, the pair have carried out minor alterations.

Vas added: “We have lots of plans and ideas for the future, but for now we just want to get it open and get the club going.”

Vas said about 30 people will be employed and a mix of UK garage, RnB, funky house, dance and house music will be played.

Creator of Facebook group, Weston Needs a Good Night Club Anything Will Do, Lewis Richards, said he - along with more than 1,500 members of the social network group - is thrilled about the news.

The 28-year-old from Worle said: “This news, as well as the Cabot Court Hotel and Club Tabu opening, is great for the people of Weston.

“When I was 18 we had a couple of nightclubs, but people now turning 18 don’t so it’s great for them too – although I’m not sure what impact it may have on other bars in the town.”
