BUSHCRAFT and traditional woodland and countryside skills are on offer from a business operating in beautiful local woodland.

Blagdon-based Wisewoods runs a series of courses including fire-lighting skills, shelter building, safe usage of knives, axes and saws and animal tracking.

The business, based in High Street Cottages, Blagdon, also offers birthday parties, family days and activities for all members of the family.

It is run by Andy Dorsett, who holds an advanced bushcraft qualification and has worked with young people for 20 years.

He said: “It is our belief that learning in natural outdoor spaces has a particularly beneficial effect on attention and concentration, along with self-confidence, motivation, leadership skills and wellbeing.

“We have observed how a whole new world opens up to them and what a fantastic time they have exploring this.”
