CHEESEMAKERS from Redhill appear to be on a roll afters scooping 12 awards for their dairy produce.
Following on from its impressive 2009 success at the World Cheese Awards, Alvis Brothers, makers of Lye Cross Farm Cheese, has gained 12 more awards this year.
The company, near Wrington, beat off stiff competition from both national and international producers and won the coveted gold award for their block farmhouse mature cheddar at the Frome Agricultural and Cheese Show.
Operations director at the family-run firm, Peter Alvis, said: “This proves that our time-honoured method of ‘cheddaring’ the cheese by turning and stacking the curd by hand is still an important ingredient for success.”
