A ‘really good’ fish restaurant would be an ‘excellent’ replacement for Weston’s vacant SeaQuarium, according to the town centre manager.
The attraction, in Marine Parade closed amid financial difficulties in March, and Steve Townsend believes it is a ‘blip on the seafront’ as the summer season begins in earnest.
Mr Townsend, who is also manager of Weston Business Improvement District, has floated the idea of a high-quality eatery to replace the aquarium.
He told the Mercury: “Obviously the SeaQuarium is a bit of a blip on the seafront.
“I think a good fish restaurant would be really good in there.
“I think a quality eatery would be excellent.”
The town has seen the growth of a foodie culture in recent years, with lots of options and flavours available for diners.
Mr Townsend added: “The town’s food offering in Weston is really growing, and that would add to it.”
