A FORMER Weston youth club which was turned into a late-night bar has been placed on the market.

Barcode, in South Parade, has been advertised for let with estate agent David Plaister, with the rental priced and terms available on application.

The building was previously a temporary home for Weston’s YMCA while its building in Bristol Road Lower was refurbished.

The youth group moved back to its original home in April last year and Barcode was later transformed into a bar.

A panel of North Somerset Council members also agreed to let the venue stay open an extra 90 minutes – up to 1.30am – in October last year.

This is earlier than the original 4am closing time owner Chris Kimitri originally asked for, and the authority’s panel insisted on extra door staff and no re-entry after midnight.

On the estate agent’s website it states the premise’s current licence is 12.30am Monday to Wednesday and 1.30am from Thursday to Saturday, with a closing time of midnight on Sunday.

Barcode includes space for a ground floor bar or restaurant and is equipped with big screens, lighting and audio, which could provide use for a sports bar.
