A spectacle-wearer from North Somerset has been selected to compete in the semi-finals of a Specsavers competition.
Jacqueline Powell, from Winscombe, entered Specsavers’ Spectacle Wearer Of The Year competition after seeing it on Facebook. She has beaten hundreds of people to make it to the semi-finals, earning a bottle of champagne and a £150 voucher – but could now win £10,000, a holiday to New York and a £1,000 wardrobe.
Jacqueline, aged 45, said: “I thought someone was playing a practical joke on me when I found out I was a regional semi-finalist.
“I have been wearing glasses for the last three years and I think it’s very important to wear them with confidence and flair.”
