The Winter Gardens, in Royal Parade, will host Weston Jobs Fair on October 25 from 10.30am-2pm, connecting jobseekers with 60 employers who are searching for talent.

The event – which is targeted at both people looking for a first job or those searching for something new – is orchestrated by Weston MP John Penrose and his team.

It is held twice a year, and Mr Penrose believes the showcase has ‘gone from strength to strength’ over the years.

He said: “Just a few days ago we heard from a local person who said ‘I went last year and found my job now, which I love’.

“It’s great hearing we’re achieving our goals of matching talented local people with stable jobs.”

The employers will showcase a wide range of vacancies at the Winter Gardens, with the likes of North Somerset Community Partnership, The Ministry of Defence, Thatchers Cider, Weston College, The Army, and Hinkley C hunting for staff to fill a variety of roles in Weston and the South West.

Sue Porto, of Brandon Trust which is sponsoring the event alongside Alliance Homes, said: “We’re looking for friendly, kind and compassionate individuals with a ‘can-do’ attitude to join our committed teams of support workers in the Weston area.

“We’re delighted to be sponsoring the jobs fair and we’d love to encourage people to come and meet us there to find out more about how they could make a very real difference to the lives of the people we support.”

An Alliance Homes spokesman added: “We’ll be showcasing the variety of roles a housing association has to offer talent in Weston. Make sure you come and say hello and find out why we’re a great place to work.”

Expert career advisors, including JobCentrePlus and Skills4Work, will also be on hand to give jobseekers guidance on volunteering and apprenticeships.

The experts will also offer tips on how to handle interviews, and advice will also be available on how to improve your CV to better employment prospects.
