Jobseekers in line for grant help

SMALL businesses hiring jobseekers on a Somerset employment programme are in line for financial help from a £180,000 grant.

Somerset County Council recently made a successful bid to the Government’s Flexible Support Fund.

The fund will support at least 100 jobseekers through the Action for Somerset project. These people joining the project will be helped by a mentor to get advice, develop their skills and overcome any personal barriers to employment.

Small companies recruiting staff from the project could also be able to claim back the cost of employee training and get support to address any concerns about recruitment.
