Plans for a new fast food restaurant has been approved this week.

Planning permission for a KFC drive-thru has been approved by Sedgemoor District Council and it will be built on the northbound side of the M5 at Sedgemoor Services.

The unit will lead to the creation of 20 full-time and part-time jobs and will be built in the car park.

There are five conditions which the business must adhere to however.

Among the council’s conditions, are that KFC must start being built within the next three years, it should be in accordance with the approved plans and the applicant needs to apply for planning permission to install more bins in the area to cope with the rise in waste.

The council’s economic development team has also told the fast food business it should source local people to work at the branch.

This is the second business to be granted permission at the site in the past year after plans for a Costa Coffee were approved in the autumn.
