THE site of a Yatton business which was narrowly saved from closure has been put up for sale as a potential location for housing development.

The Mercury reported earlier this month that Titan Ladders had been bought by West Midlands investor firm Metro Estates after it went into administration earlier this year.

The move saved around 25 per cent of jobs at the firm, with this number expected to rise to 50 per cent – but the new owners confirmed the company would be looking for new premises and they are now working with property company Colliers International to sell the Mendip Road site.

The 1.6-acre plot is being advertised as a possible location for housing development in a village where 849 new homes could already be built.

Nick More is the associate director of Colliers International’s development consulting and agency team.

He said: “Yatton is a well-located village within convenient proximity of the M5 and the A370, and has its own railway station.

“The Titan Ladders site is prominently positioned in an established residential area and could provide much-needed new housing in North Somerset, subject to necessary planning consents.

“However, it would also be suitable for continued industrial uses.”
