GLASTONBURY festival founder Michael Eavis helped get the festive season underway in Burnham last weekend.
Mr Eavis turned on the town’s Christmas lights on Saturday following a day of fun in the town centre, including a Burnham-wide talent show, and an appearance from Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist and Brent Knoll resident Gracie Wickens-Sweet.
Chamber of trade chairman Mark Newman said he was delighted with the turnout for the event.
He told the Mercury: “There were a lot of people who had come out to see Michael Eavis.
“He has always had a strong affinity with Burnham, he came here as a child and ventured onto the beach. It is very much a part of his history.”
