MP looks to highlight work experience challenges

EARLY-MORNING milking, bee keeping and serving at a lunch club are just a few of a number of work placements a local MP will be taking up this summer.
Wells MP Tessa Munt will spend part of her summer recess from parliament engaging in work experience with various companies, including a cider maker, vet, and baker.
Ms Munt said the placements would highlight the challenges each business faces, and the benefits of undertaking work experience.
She said: “I know from personal experience that a little work experience can help young people decide whether they’re suited to particular sorts of work. Voluntary experience can often help - an employer will see that someone has tried to gain experience, which can make their application stand out.
“Rolling my sleeves up for these local businesses will offer me a glimpse of what happens on any day in our local firms and clubs. I’ll gain a better understanding of how they operate, the challenges they face and at the same time, can promote what they’re doing.”
More work experience dates are still to be arranged over the coming weeks. If you would like to organise a visit, call 01934 710748
