A NATIONAL retailer has pulled out of Weston.

Confectionery giant Thorntons however shut its doors for the final time last Wednesday, little more than a year after it reversed closure plans. Two employees have been affected by the decision to shut up the chocolate maker’s shop in the High Street.

Last year the company revealed it would close 180 outlets over a period of three years and Weston’s store is one of the latest to cease trading.

A Thorntons spokesman said: “As with all other closures, Thorntons will try to redeploy staff wherever possible.

“Thorntons has been delighted to serve its many Weston customers over the years and would love to welcome them to its stores in The Galleries and Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and also to its franchise store in Bridgwater.”
