A fish restaurant and takeaway in Weston-super-Mare gave away free food to war veterans to mark Trafalgar Day.
Nelson’s Fish & Grill, in Birnbeck Road, wanted to mark Lord Horatio Nelson’s death by raising money for Weston’s sea cadets.
Veterans and those still serving in the Armed Forces were invited to enjoy some free chips and live music in the afternoon.
The sea cadets also laid a wreath by the restaurant’s statue of Lord Nelson.
Lee Carpenter from Nelson’s said: “We had a fantastic turn-out, the live music was fantastic.
“We raised some money for the cadets and served free chips and drinks to our respected OAPs and our heroic servicemen and women who came along.”
Lord Nelson is best known for his naval victories in the Napoleonic wars.
He died during the Battle of Trafalgar in October 1805 after he was shot by a marksman from 50ft away.
