THE new owners of the vacant TJ Hughes store are continuing to market the property in the hope of finding a bigger retailer willing to take it on, the Mercury understands.

The unit, in Weston’s High Street, has been empty since the clothing chain went into administration in 2011 and was bought by Dove Properties towards the end of last year.

Dove says it has a retailer - which so far has not been named publicly - lined up to take on most of the ground floor. But the store continues to be advertised because it would prefer to let the whole building to one business, the Mercury has been told.

Property firm GCW is advertising the building online for a rent of £175,000 per annum.

Dove has previously made clear it wants to reopen the two flats on the top floor and make them available for let too.
