Weston’s best businesses will see their outstanding efforts celebrated at an awards ceremony which will ‘shine a light’ on the town’s success stories.
Nominations have opened for Weston Business Awards, which will mark its fifth year of praising the work of traders whose ‘success and contribution is vital to the economic prosperity of the town’.
The ceremony, which will take place at the Grand Pier on February 1, is organised by Weston Chamber of Commerce – which works to promote the town’s businesses and the local economy.
Weston’s top brass are certain to attend the gala dinner, which is sure to be a memorable occasion for hard-working and innovative business owners.
The chamber of commerce’s president, Sue Shillabeer, believes the event will provide a deserved opportunity for the town’s brightest business brains to celebrate their success.
She said: “We’re delighted to be shining a light on local businesses whose success and contribution is vital to the economic prosperity of our town.
“There are three new categories this year and I’d like to thank our sponsors who have made the awards possible for a fifth year.”
The chamber plays an important role within Weston’s business community, forging close relationships with both organisations and North Somerset Council to drive opportunities for growth.
Mercury readers have been encouraged to nominate businesses across 12 categories, which include service, innovation, green practice, and positive community impact.
The most coveted prize of the night will be The Business Person of the Year award, which is in memory of former chamber president Vickie Brett and was awarded to Bev and Sarah Milner Simonds – the couple behind the immensely popular eat: Festivals – earlier this year.
Awards will also be handed out recognising the most family-friendly business, the best new business and the company which has made an outstanding contribution to tourism.
The nominations period closes on November 30, and you can enter your nominees by logging on to www.westonchamber.org.uk/awards
