The owner of a North Somerset vineyard is looking to the future, after three of her company’s wines won prestigious awards, tours of the vineyard were launched and a new wine shop was opened at her site.

Aldwick Wines, which is based at Aldwick Court Farm and Vineyard near Redhill, is home to 11,000 vines and has produced award-winning wines since 2013.

The vineyard’s Jubilate 2013 sparkling white fizz has just been ‘highly recommended’ in wine magazine Decanter’s August issue, while its Mary’s Rose 2015 has been awarded a gold medal by the UK Vineyard Association in its 2016 Wine of the Year competition. Aldwick’s Finbarr 2015 won a silver medal as part of the same awards.

Managing director Sandy Luck recently launched vineyard tours and wine-tasting sessions at the vineyard, and said the key to its success was making ‘quality’ wines, rather than mass-produced ones.

Ms Luck said: “It is about quality, not quantity.

“People really do need to try English wines. The quality has come a long way in the past 10 years.

“We have got a great selection of wines here, with a sparkling Pinot Noir on the leaves and our first red due in 2017.”
