BACON butties, chips and drinks were served at a celebration to mark the end of a revamp of shops on the Coronation estate.
The official opening of the new and improved Loxton Road shopping area took place last week and more than 50 people turned out to join in the fun.
Five lucky raffle winners also won 10 vouchers to use in one of the shops.
The work was funded by the South Ward Neighbourhood Management Partnership and NSHousing and includes painted railings and new bike racks.
The partnership's project development worker Mary Morgan said: "It was a really good event.
"We had billboards up with pictures of before and after the work and people were amazed at how much it had changed."
Children from Windwhistle Primary School helped draw up designs for the bike railings.
