The town’s brightest and best businesses have made it through to the final of Weston Business Awards 2018.

Now in its fourth year, the Weston Business Awards are organised by Weston Chamber of Commerce to highlight outstanding contributions to the town.

They include those who actively promote Weston-super-Mare as the place to live and work, as well as the ideal holiday destination and non-profit organisations who make a difference to the community too.

There are 30 finalists across 10 categories, covering customer service, innovation, green practice, positive community impact and promotion of Weston, as well as awards for business woman of the year and new business.

Sue Shillabeer, the chamber’s president, said: “There has been a fantastic response and very strong competition which just goes to show we have a lot of committed and talented business people in our town.

“We are in for a thrilling awards dinner in February which will celebrate the best of what Weston has to offer.”

Nominations for the awards were open to the public throughout November, and judging has now begun on selecting winners from each category.

Winners last year covered a wide range of Weston businesses, and included High Street department store Walker & Ling, Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, Somerset Wood Recycling and Weston super Food Festival.

Prior years have seen the Grand Pier, Weston Golf Club, Weston Hospicecare, McDonald’s and Broadway Lodge feature among the awards recipients.

There is also a category for new businesses established over the course of the year, which Perrett Neads hair and beauty salon, Pinups hair salon and Sacred Willow have been selected for.

Best hospitality nominees are Italian restaurant Il Michelangelo, Loves Café and Mr Beans Coffee Shop, while The Imperial pub, The Playhouse Theatre and The Reaper Bar were listed in the top night-time venue category.

The awards gala charity dinner will be held on February 3 at the Royal Hotel.
