A NORTH Somerset dog groomer has said she is ‘ecstatic’ after winning the top prize at a national grooming competition.

Charley Cullinane, who works at The Pet Studio in Congresbury, won first place at the British Dog Grooming Championships 2015 with her scissored standard poodle Daphne.

Her win, which included a £250 cash prize, was judged on preparation, style and finish, technique and handling.

Charley said: “I was completely ecstatic and totally overwhelmed when I heard my name being called.

“Daphne loves being groomed and enjoys all the attention but at home she’s the perfect family dog, forever getting filthy and muddy out on our long walks.”

The Pet Studio’s owner Liza Smith said: “I’m so proud of Charley and all the hard work she’s achieved.

“She has come such a long way since starting with us as an incredibly shy 14-year-old on work experience.”
