A SERIES of talks between Post Office management and the landlord of its current premises in Regent Street have meant the store will remain open as normal after ongoing disputes.

The store first closed unexpectedly on Monday evening due to contractual issues with the building.

Negotiations then meant it re-opened on Tuesday before closing again on Wednesday night.

Yet more talks between the Post Office and landlord meant it reopened for one more day today (Thursday) and officials have just announced it will remain open.

A Post Office spokesman said: “Agreement has been reached with the landlord to allow us to remain on the site. We are delighted agreement has been reached bringing to an end a period of unforeseen uncertainty for customers and staff.”

The Post Office can remain at the site for up to one year but it recently consulted on plans to relocate to another site in Regent Street. The six week consultation has now ended and an announcement is expected to be made shortly.
