THE Post Office in Regent Street has reopened for one day despite ongoing contractual disputes with the building’s landlord.
Unforeseen circumstances meant the store was due to close on Friday afternoon, but talks between the Post Office and the building’s landlords enabled to stay open until 5.30pm on Monday.
More talks then took place and it reopened for normal hours on Tuesday before closing again last night (Wednesday).
This morning officials have confirmed it will once again be open as normal today (Thursday) and negotiations are ongoing to enable it to stay open for longer.
The Post Office recently held a consultation regarding its plans to relocate to a new premises just metres away from its current temporary base in Regent Street, the six week consultation period has now ended and an announcment will be made shortly.
Emergency back up plans are being considered by the Post Office. For more details pick up a copy of today’s Mercury (Thursday).
