A LEADING retailer has refused to be drawn on whether one of its stores could be opening in Weston.

Rumours have been circulating that clothing chain Primark could be looking to move to the town.

But a spokesman for the retailer refused to be drawn on the rumours and said: “Unfortunately, Primark doesn’t comment on speculation about store openings.”

Last year, the Mercury ran a front page asking for the national retailer to open one of its shops in the town.

Thousands of people then lobbied Primark via Facebook and town centre manager Steve Townsend called for residents to email Primark’s bosses and ask them to bring the chain to the resort.
