A new attraction was opened at the weekend, with the help of a British Winter Olympic hero.

A new attraction was opened at the weekend, with the help of a British Winter Olympic hero.

Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards was on hand to celebrate the opening of Puxton Park’s £300,000 high ropes course on Saturday.

The ski jumper won the hearts of the nation at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, taking part in the 70m and 90m events despite an amateurish style and lack of pedigree in the sport.

The Eagle tested himself on the high ropes course, which is suspended 20ft in the air. Puxton Park bills it as ‘one of the most exciting and challenging courses in the West of England’.

The park also opened a Sky Tykes course, which is designed for children aged two to seven.

Puxton Park managing director Alistair Mead said: “Since opening more than 10 years ago, we have worked hard to add new and exciting attractions every year; this may be one of my favourites.”
