Puxton Park’s plans to convert offices into a children’s day nursery have been torn up by an inspector after an appeal.

The park had applied to for permission to change the use of first-floor offices at the Cowslip Lane site, but inspector Stephen Hawkins said: “The proposal would not accord with the development plan.

“I am not persuaded it has been clearly demonstrated that there is an identifiable shortfall in childcare places in the surrounding area.

“Accordingly, the claim of a local need for the nursery would not outweigh the harm that would be caused, having regard to it not being accessible by a wide range of transport modes.”
