Steering group appointed for town BID

A STEERING group has been appointed for Weston’s Business Improvement District (BID).

The BID was voted through by town centre businesses in March, with scheme leaders saying they were confident its success could help to turn the town centre’s business prospects around.

The scheme is paid for by the town centre’s 700 rateable businesses and will fund street wardens dealing with cleaning and security, and more signs, security and marketing for some areas of the town centre, among other initiatives.

The BID area has been split into six areas, with each area represented by a different business person on the steering group.

The group will be responsible for ensuring the BID business plan is delivered with and making sure the views of business rate payers are represented.
