A VILLAGE supermarket and petrol station has submitted plans for an extension to North Somerset Council.
Budgens Supermarket in Lower Langford submitted plans on Friday outlining its desire to build a bigger shop and increase the number of car park spaces. If approved, an extra 13 full-time jobs would be created.
The store, in Bristol Road (A38), wants to a two-storey extension to be constructed on a site currently occupied by a bungalow. This extra space would be used for storage. And the creation of extra parking spaces is planned, to help reduce congestion on the forecourt.
In documents supporting the application, it said the enlargement proposed was ‘modest’ and would help ensure it could continue to provide goods and fuel to people in Langford and Churchill, as well as those who use the A38 to get to Bristol.
A decision will be made by the council in the coming weeks. It had received no objections as the Mercury went to press.
