THE Dragon's Inn has been rewarded for its excellent beer by becoming one of three Weston pubs included in this year's Good Beer Guide.

The book published by the Campaign for Real Ale society (CAMRA) recognises more than 4,500 pubs it feels serve the best quality beer across the country.

The Meadow Street pub is joined in this year’s guide by fellow Weston pubs, the Criterion in Upper Church Road and Regency in Lower Church Road.

CAMRA has 130,000 members nationwide divided among regional branches and volunteers go out and score pubs on a variety of categories.

A spokesman for the society said The Dragon Inn thoroughly deserved its place in the guide.

He said: “It is our belief that if a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, then everything else in the pub, including customer service, quality of food and atmosphere, are likely to be of an equally high standard.”

The pub’s manager, Robert Gage, said it was a fantastic accolade for the Wetherspoons pub.

He said: “I am delighted that The Dragon Inn has been recognised for the quality of its real ales by CAMRA members.

“We offer our customers an excellent range of real ales at all times, including those from regional brewers and microbrewers, as well as hosting our own beer festivals.

“Staff at the pub work hard to ensure that the real ales on offer are kept in first-class condition at all times and the pub’s inclusion in the guide highlights this.”
