A major Worle road will close overnight for five days next week.

Engineers will carry out surveys and preparation works ahead of resurfacing in the summer on the B3440 Bristol Road.

The first phase of work, which will last from 8pm-6am on Monday to Wednesday, will see construction take place between the junction with the A370 at Somerset Avenue and Shepherds Way. The work will then be carried out between Shepherds Way and Queensway from 8pm-6am on February 23-24.

North Somerset Council’s executive member for highways, Cllr Elfan Ap Rees, said: “We’ve scheduled the Bristol Road works to take place overnight so any disruption on this busy route is kept to a minimum and we’ll carry out the works in two phases so access to St Georges, via Shepherds Way, is maintained.”
