A TOWN councillor has called a special meeting to 'keep the momentum going' on plans for a seafront marina.Councillor Keith Morris has asked for fellow town councillors and business people to get together with representatives from North Somerset Council to decide on the best way forward for Weston's seafront defences.He wrote to Weston Town Council following the vote by councillors on December 12 to support plans for a marina.Last week it was revealed how Martin Woolls, who runs the Bristol Queen ferry in Weston, has drawn up a plan for Weston bay featuring a marina, a breakwater and a new harbour wall out at sea.A number of seafront traders, who have been fighting the local authority's plans for a sea wall, along with the town council, support plans for a marina.Cllr Morris said in his letter, sent on Tuesday (Jan 9), that: "Following the adoption of the town council to support the proposal that the construction of a marina be pursued as the preferred solution to Weston's sea defences, there has been a number of developments and initiatives taking place in the town."I feel that it is essential that in order to keep the momentum going that we now call for a meeting to take place."North Somerset Council's plans for a secondary splash wall were approved in December and the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs announced two weeks ago that it will be putting in the region of £4million into the scheme.
