KEEN walkers are being asked to sign up to the Brean challenge to support families affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

This year’s Brean challenge, which will start at 10am, will include walking 15 miles from Burnham Pier to Brean Down and back on May 27.

A shorter alternative to the challenge can also be completed from the entrance of Berrow Beach and a return to the pier.

Organiser Mike Barsby said: “Alzheimer’s can affect anyone and statistics show one in four people know or have known someone with Alzeimer’s or dementia.

“By raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Society I hope that more support can be provided for families affected by Alzheimer’s as well as allowing the society to continue its research for a cure.”

For competitive walkers souvenir medals will be awarded to the first five walkers who arrive at Brean Down Cove and all participants will be awarded a Brean challenge certificate.
