A community group working to shape the future of Yatton is looking for new volunteers to help out with its cause.

The village’s neighbourhood plan group needs people to help research five different issues which affect life in the area.

The group is in the process of creating a neighbourhood plan document, which has legal weight and will give the village a say in how development takes place in the coming years.

In order to draw up the plan, the group’s steering committee has devised five working groups to concentrate on specific themes and it is these groups where volunteers are needed. The five sections are highways and transport, health and access to the NHS, housing and affordable homes, environment and maintaining green spaces, and the precinct (in High Street) and businesses.

The committee says it is in particular need of help with the transport working group.

Member Jonathan Edwards said: “It is about how we want the traffic to look and about how the village should look around the precinct.”
