Eleven vehicles were broken into and property including laptop cases and handbags was stolen. Inspector Liz Hughes said: Some of these crimes could have been avoided as people had left property on view; for an opportunistic thief this is too much to resist. I would urge people to be vigilant and empty their cars of any belongings. Even a coat on the back seat of a vehicle can be appealing to a thief who may believe there is something underneath it. If you see or hear anything suspicious then call 999 if an emergency or 101 for less urgent matters.
