Car break-ins prompt police warning

A SPATE of thefts from cars across Weston at the weekend has prompted police to issue a warning to motorists.

Eleven vehicles were broken into and property – including laptop cases and handbags – was stolen.

Inspector Liz Hughes said: “Some of these crimes could have been avoided as people had left property on view; for an opportunistic thief this is too much to resist.

“I would urge people to be vigilant and empty their cars of any belongings.

“Even a coat on the back seat of a vehicle can be appealing to a thief who may believe there is something underneath it.”

If you see or hear anything suspicious then call 999 if an emergency or 101 for less urgent matters.
