FIREFIGHTERS were called to Burnham after a car caught fire on the M5.

FIREFIGHTERS were called to Burnham after a car caught fire on the M5.

Crews from two fire engines found the car well alight on the hard shoulder between junction 22 and 21 at 6.10pm on February 25.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a blown engine. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the blaze.

The engine compartment was destroyed by the fire and the passenger compartment received 85 per cent damage by heat, smoke and fire.
