A CAR dealership in Banwell has been dealt a blow after a bid to expand the firm’s base was thrown out by the planning authority.

Stuart Millard, owner of Knightcott Motors, has been refused planning permission to increase the size of his car showroom.

North Somerset Council turned down the application after judging the extension as harmful to the character and appearance of surrounding countryside.

Mr Millard told the Mercury in September that he hoped to expand after seeing his car sales double from last year.
