POLICE have praised the role of a new vehicle dedicated to tackling troublesome youths across North Somerset.
The ‘antisocial behaviour car’ was recently sent to Purn Hill, Bleadon, to tackle groups of drinkers who gathered there during the evenings.
The group of up to 30 youths would drink in the nature park, making a lot of noise and leaving behind litter.
Since the car was sent there the group has stopped congregating in the area.
PC Steven Church, beat manager for Bleadon, said: “The car seems to work, everywhere we put it quietens down.
“We have used it in several locations in Weston and it has had the desired effect.”
He said the car has also been successfully used in Weston’s Ashcombe Park as well as parts of Winscombe since it was bought eight months ago.
