Car parking cash rockets

PUBLISHED: 15:00 27 October 2010 | UPDATED: 16:16 27 October 2010

Car park income in Weston town centre ‘roughly trebled’ on the opening weekend of the Grand Pier.

At a meeting of North Somerset Council’s executive members on Tuesday, the deputy leader, Councillor Elfan Ap Rees, said the revenue had shot up from Saturday to Monday.

He welcomed the good news of increased car parking cash as, to date, the council’s parking revenue is down, which Cllr Ap Rees attributes to the bad weather earlier in the year.
