Car saved from high tide

A GROUP of mighty men flexed their muscles to save a car from being swallowed up by Weston's sea and sand at the weekend.
This image was captured by one of our readers – Paul Cousins – and submitted through our iwitness24 site.
He said the high tide came in quickly on Sunday evening in front of Royal Sands where the car was parked.
Unfortunately reversing did not help the driver and when the car became stuck the heroes walked into the waves to push the car out.
Mr Cousins said: “All the cars had to move back but the Mercedes didn’t move, and everyone was watching in amazement at how fast the tide was coming in and it was still stuck there.
“Two more minutes and it could have been lost.
“We could see someone running in the distance and he jumped in the car. As soon as he opened the door, water ran in there.
“He started reversing but he wasn’t moving, so about 10 or 12 people all watching took their shoes off and started helping him.”
