A DISABLED man had his car stolen while holidaying in Brean.

George and Jenny Nunn's black Vauxall Astra estate, registration VA57 NNY, was stolen from outside their caravan between 11pm on Sunday and 8.30am on Monday.

The caravan was also broken into and Mrs Nunn's handbag, containing her keys, was also taken while they were in bed.

Mr Nunn, aged 42, is paralysed from the chest downwards due to a motorcycle crash which happened in Hartlebury two years to the day the car was stolen.

Mrs Nunn, aged 48, from Stourport, said: "The car had hand controls which enabled my husband to drive it and gave him independence.

"Motability have sorted out a car for us until June 24 but it could take four months to get a replacement car if ours does not turn up and we're not sure what will happen in the meantime.

"A lot of Midlanders visit Brean and the surrounding area and it is possible it may be in this area.

"We've had a terrible couple of years and we hope the thief's conscience may be pricked by the fact that it is an adapted car."

West Mercia Police are appealing for help in tracing the car. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Jan Shore at Stourport Police Station on 08457 444888, Avon and Somerset Police on 0845 456 7000, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
