The Ronald McDonald House Charity offers home-away-from-home accommodation for mums and dads whose children are in hospital.

And the cause received a welcome boost from workers at Weston’s trio of McDonald’s eateries – in Regent Street, Western Links and Worle – who held a quiz night and washed cars to raise cash.

Western Links manager Katherine Elliott said: “The weekend was a huge success and we were delighted to join forces with the other two restaurants in the area to raise money for such a good cause.

“Lots of fun was had by all and we would like to thank our customers for their generosity in their donations and Hutton Girls FC – the local football team we sponsor – for rolling up their sleeves up and helping to scrub up car windscreens.”
