PROTESTORS against a proposed caravan site say they are confident the development will not go ahead.Pressure group Save Open Land In Draycott (SOLID) will meet with planning officials at the site between Draycott and Cheddar on May 18. The group is protesting about a planning application by Wells resident, Michael Pearce, to build a caravan park on a 13 acre plot at Nylands Crossroads.SOLID spokeswoman Sue Wall, of Abbis Farm which overlooks the proposed development, said: "We are confident the planning officers at Sedgemoor District Council will reject the proposal. Once they have seen the site they will realise this is not a suitable area for a caravan park."We were really pleased when we found out they were going to come out and representatives from our group will be there as well. It will be a proper meeting and anyone can go along. "I think we are pretty confident about the outcome but we don't want to hedge our bets too early." After the site meeting Sedgemoor's planning committee will discuss the proposal on May 22. Sue added: "We are just playing the waiting game now, but I am pretty sure I know what the final result will be.
