A Weston-super-Mare care home has been described as ‘safe’ but ‘not always effective’ after a visit from health and social care inspectors.
Tollington Lodge Rest Home, in Milton Road, received an overall ‘good’ rating from the Care Quality Care Commission (CQC) but was told it ‘requires improvement’ in the effectivness category.
The report read: “The service was safe. A recruitment procedure was in place to ensure people were supported by staff with the experience and character required to meet the needs of people.”
This inspection was unannounced by the CQC.
The report added: “People’s rights were not always protected because the correct procedures were not always followed where people lacked capacity to make decisions for themselves.”
Tollington Lodge cares for up to 25 older people. The Mercury contacted the home but it declined to comment.
