A PORTISHEAD pensioner is to keep a log of the condition of public toilets in Portishead - after finding them in a 'disgusting' state.Fed up Margaret Lloyd says she is keeping a record of the cleanliness of the loos at Wyndham Way after finding them in a foul condition when she took her disabled sister Jennifer to use them. She first complained to North Somerset Council that the disabled loo was covered in faeces on November 7 last year and claims that five weeks later when she visited on December 22 the mess was still there.Mrs Lloyd, a full time carer for her sister, says the situation has still not improved and the loos are still in a filthy condition.Mrs Lloyd said: "The disabled toilet was in a deplorable and filthy condition."Despite writing to and ringing North Somerset Council, they are still in the same condition and I have taken photos to prove it."It is not a pleasant experience for my sister or I to visit those loos."Mrs Lloyd said the loos were not only filthy but also in a poor state of repair with cracked tiles, damaged doors and dirty walls and paintwork. She added: "The people of Portishead are paying for these loos and not getting a good enough service."When I am out in town on my own I just won't use them, but when I am out with my sister I have no option."The toilets have suffered at the hands of vandals on many occasions, with windows being smashed and cisterns and washbowls damaged. A series of reports have been carried out into the condition of the town's loos by Portishead Tourism Group and a number of individuals. North Somerset Council spokesman Nick Yates confirmed complaints had been made about the standard of cleanliness at the toiletsMr Yates added: "The disabled toilets are only accessible to people who have a special radar key. "We make sure the toilets are cleaned twice a day.
