WESTON carnival will revert to its traditional route this year and organisers are looking for support from local businesses to make it happen.

The traditional route includes Alexandra Parade, Alfred Street, the seafront and the Boulevard.

Changes were made two years ago while seafront improvements were carried out - and reverting has increased costs because more manpower is needed to ensure it can safely negotiate corners in the more complicated route.

North Somerset Council said: “The carnival committee are very happy to see the carnival go back to its original route. We are looking for businesses along the route to support the carnival and to help secure its future.

“This is also the last year the carnival will be held on a Monday, next year it will take place on Friday.”

The carnival committee is appealing for support from businesses and supporters to cover increasing costs and safeguard the event’s future.

Weston carnival will be held on November 14. To sponsor the event contact North Somerset council on 01934 629888.
