DISABLED people are being invited to enter Highbridge and Burnham Carnival this year after a new class for entries was created by its organisers.

The popular procession of floats comes to the town every year, stunning crowds with a range of impressive creations parading through the area.

The new class will be open to single entries, pairs or groups of people (up to 20) who are registered disabled.

A new trophy will also be created (which can be dedicated to an association or group on request) for the class.

Burnham Town Team’s Linda Bullimore said: “It would be fantastic to have a remarkable number of entries in this class for the Burnham route - we do after all have the perfect terrain and in the spirit of community cohesion it would be even more special if our arts and crafters came up with a design for the trophy.”

The closing date for entries is September 1.
