A TOWN is set to benefit from three events to be put on this month - including an annual carnival and a civic service.

Axbridge will see a procession of floats on the theme of nursery rhymes make its way through the town on September 22, from 1-3.30pm, with prizes for the best floats handed out in The Square.

Later, at 6pm, a barbecue will be held at The Rising, by The Church of St John The Baptist in The Square. Tickets, priced £2.50-5, are available from Axbridge Butchers, Post Office and chemist.

On September 23, a civic service will be held in the church in The Square by Gill Slocombe, chairman of Sedgemoor District Council at 11am, with a performance by Axbridge Singers also planned.
