A DISTRICT nurse who has worked in the NHS for more than 25 years has been commended for her long service to patients.

Caroline Coles, who worked at Burnham Medical Centre before transferring to Cheddar, Axbridge and Wedmore Medical Centre, was recognised by NHS Somerset chairman Jane Barrie.

Mrs Barrie said Caroline should be commended for her long years of service to patients and in particular for dedicating 25 of her 32 years of service to working at Burnham Medical Centre.

She presented Caroline with a long service award and said: "I would like to offer my congratulations for her dedication and service to patients.

"The role of a district nurse is an important one and the care they provide, each and every day, is enabling many more of our elderly patients to live long and independent lives, supported in their own homes.
