SOMERSET County Council has a solution for motorists bracing themselves for increases in fuel duty following the VAT increase – share a car.

Carshare Somerset has been launched to allow motorists to find other people in Somerset going their way, so they can share the trip, with motorists being encouraged to take turns driving or contribute towards fuel costs.

Norman Hadley, one of over 2,000 registered car sharers in the county said: “Without sharing, my commuting petrol bill would be over £200 per month. With the current arrangements, I can save at least half that.”
