THOUSANDS of pounds have been given to worthy village groups this week.
Twice a year Yatton Parish Council allocates cash for certain charities and organisations that benefit the community.
The grants are made out of money provided by Yatton and Claverham council tax payers, and this year the Methodist Church Youth Worker’s Group received £4,350 to pay the salary for a youth worker.
Crossroads Care North Somerset, which supports carers of all ages, was given £1,000, Yatton Music Society, £350, Avon Wildlife, £500, Vine Counselling, £500, and the Community Drugs Misuse Forum was awarded £370 to cover transport for year six children to attend a drugs awareness session.
